We are now in receipt of a daily tranche of proxies from members who wish to have an SGM convened in order to ascertain the profession’s view as to the authorisation of Alternative Business Structures. However, the numbers of proxies received to date are unlikely to reach the critical mass required for Council to convene a Special General Meeting of the Law Society. Members are reminded that Council has proposed a cut off date of 20th January 2009 and any members who wish to return proxies should do so before that date. In addition, we welcome views from around the membership and around the wider profession whether in support of or in opposition to ABS.
